Verifying eSIM Compatibility on Your Android Device
The availability of eSIM functionality in a device is contingent upon the manufacturer’s decision to incorporate this technology. To assist in identifying eSIM-compatible devices, eSIMply offers a comprehensive directory for easy reference.
There may be instances where a device, though listed as eSIM-capable, does not support eSIM technology. Given Android’s open-source nature, mobile device manufacturers or carriers have the leeway to modify it. Consequently, certain models in specific countries or regions might lack eSIM capability, or the carrier from which the device was purchased might not activate this feature.
To determine if your Android device is eSIM-compatible, follow the outlined steps. It’s important to note that these steps may vary based on your specific device, and the most accurate method of verification is through direct consultation with the device manufacturer, retailer, or your telecom carrier.
For Samsung Galaxy Devices:
- Access Settings: Navigate to the Settings app and select Connections.
- SIM Manager: Tap on SIM Manager. If you find an option to Add eSIM, your device is probably eSIM-compatible.
For Google Pixel Devices:
- Settings Navigation: Go to the Settings app and select Network & Internet.
- SIM Options: Tap the + sign next to SIMs. A “Download a SIM instead?” option indicates eSIM capability.
For Other Android Devices:
- EID Check: Dial *#06# and press call. If your device displays an eSIM unique identification number (EID), it supports eSIM.
Additionally, ensure your device is carrier-unlocked to utilize eSIM. This status allows you to use SIMs or eSIMs from various carriers interchangeably. Here’s how you can check if your Android device is unlocked:
- SIM Swap: Remove the current SIM card and replace it with another from a different carrier.
- Carrier Name Change: The carrier’s name should update on your home screen.
- Test Call: Make a call. Successful connection means your phone is unlocked. A failure to connect or a lock notice indicates it’s carrier-bound.
For any uncertainties regarding your device’s eSIM capabilities, it’s advisable to reach out directly to the manufacturer, retailer, or your carrier for confirmation.

Important
Our eSIMs are compatible exclusively with devices that support eSIM technology and are carrier-unlocked!
What does ‘unlocked device’ mean? An unlocked device can use the network services of any telecommunications provider.
For instance, devices purchased through specific telecom carriers might be locked to their network, meaning our eSIMs would be incompatible.
Conversely, devices bought outright from retailers are generally unlocked.
Unsure about your device’s status? The most reliable method to check is by contacting your current service provider, who can also unlock your device if necessary, potentially for a fee.
